What Is Formwork Estimating
Formwork estimating is the process of measuring and pricing the temporary molds that hold concrete in place. It covers footing forms, wall forms, column forms, beam forms, slab edge forms, elevated slab shoring and the labor to set and strip them.
Formwork is priced by contact area, which is different from the concrete volume. A tall thin wall needs much more formwork than a short thick one. We calculate contact area for each element from the structural plans in PlanSwift and Bluebeam, so your bid includes the true forming cost.
